NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – Adam Lenth has spent the last decade in the sky as a flight nurse on the ThedaStar helicopter, participating in over 1,000 patient flights.
Lenth’s father also served as a flight nurse on the same helicopter, and they even worked side by side.

“He had 30 years in when he retired. We actually shared the same weekend. We worked frequently together on the calls,” Lenth said.

When Lenth first started, he says he had to adapt to working in small spaces up to 2,000 feet in the air.
“Even simple things like drawing up medications…because of turbulence, just doing intricate things, that was a learning curve,” Lenth said.
His mission was to help patients in their most vulnerable moments.
“It’s eye-opening to know that the further out you are, the more complex it is to get you to life-saving care. [It’s] knowing you’re doing the best thing for that patient, giving them the best possible outcome,” Lenth said.
Now, Lenth is starting a new role as an EMS coordinator.
“Helping patients indirectly where I was helping them directly before, making sure the majority of EMS transfers are going well,” Lenth said.
He said his background in responding to critical care makes him qualified for this new role.
“Having that kind of background will be beneficial for [the job] because I’ve been in all the shoes.”
