Basement fire of Fond du Lac home causes extensive damage, three dogs rescued

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A fire at a Fond du Lac home on East Division Street caused extensive damage to the basement and first floor.

According to the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, crews were sent to the 300 block of East Division Street around 10:55 a.m. on April 27 for reports of a house fire.

Crews were met with heavy fire conditions due to windy conditions. The fire was showing from a basement window of the two-story home when crews first arrived at the scene.

All residents who were home at the time of the incident were able to safely evacuate, however, fire crews had to rescue three dogs from the home.

The release notes that the fire caused extensive damage to the basement and first floor of the home, saying the age of the home, type of building construction, and high winds aided the fire in spreading quickly from the basement to the first floor.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
