Green Bay PD investigating east side shooting, 16-year-old hospitalized

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officers in Green Bay are investigating a shooting that occurred on the City’s east side on Friday afternoon that injured a 16-year-old.

According to the Green Bay Police Department, officers were sent to the area of Mills and Village Streets around 12:30 p.m. on April 19 after reports of a possible shooting.

Officers are investigating the incident which sent a 16-year-old boy to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Around the same time, two nearby schools, Preble High School and Danz Elementary went into ‘secure the building’ mode out of precaution. No official word has been provided as to whether or not the two incidents were related.

It was noted that no arrests have been made and that officers are searching the area for a suspect or suspects.

“This is still a very active investigation. Our investigators and patrol officers are working on determining who is responsible for this as we speak,” said Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis. “We really don’t have information as to what instigated this or what the motive was at this point but obviously there is never a good reason for something like this to happen.”
