Neenah School Board narrowly votes to close Hoover Elementary School

NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) – The Neenah School District Board of Education has voted to close down Hoover Elementary School.

It was a difficult decision, but the board voted five to four, and a handful of parents stood outside the district office, hoping they could get another vote.

“We feel that they should revote when they get new board members because their opinion should matter versus two of the board members that are no longer going to be on the board and a new superintendent starting soon. They should have a say in things, too,” said Liz Rosenow of Neenah.

The Neenah School District released a statement saying the transition will open more opportunities for students and create better efficiencies within the Neenah Elementary School structure.

The District also believes that closing Hoover Elementary will save between $470,000 and $650,000.
