Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has thrown his support behind a challenger to unseat Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach the former president in 2021.
Jerrod Sessler, a U.S. Navy veteran and former NASCAR driver, will attempt to win over voters from Washington’s 4th Congressional District. Newhouse is one of only two Republicans who remain following the Trump impeachment vote, with the others either losing reelection bids or opting not to run. Rep. David Valadao of California is the other.
“Jerrod Sessler is a fantastic candidate and will be a GREAT Congressman for Washington State’s 4th Congressional District,'” Trump posted on Truth Social. “A Navy Veteran, Entrepreneur, Loving Father and Husband, Jerrod will fight hard every day to secure the Border, stand for the Rule of Law, strengthen our Military, take care of our Vets, Defend our Nation, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment.
