Wisconsin man arrested for 7th OWI after officer noticed multiple signs of alcohol usage, impairment

PORTAGE, Wis. (WFRV) – A man from southcentral Wisconsin was arrested for his 7th Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) offense after being pulled over for an equipment violation on Thursday.

According to the Portage Police Department, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle in the area of West Wisconsin Street and West Franklin Street in Portage around 2 a.m. on April 11.

Officers say that the driver, later identified as Portage resident Fredrick Osterholt, was pulled over for a vehicle equipment violation for a defective high-mounted brake lamp.

During contact with Osterholt, the officer reportedly noticed multiple indicators of alcohol usage and impairment.

Osterholt, 60, was arrested for a seventh OWI offense, after further investigation. Osterholt was also cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and was verbally warned for the defective brake lamp.
