Wisconsin teen tied to substantial amount of vehicle break-ins arrested shortly after attempted armed robbery

KENOSHA, Wis. (WFRV) – After determining that a rash of vehicle break-ins was allegedly tied to one suspect, authorities in southeast Wisconsin arrested a teenager two days after an attempted armed robbery at a local gas station.

Throughout March and early April, officers in Kenosha took over 30 reports of vehicle break-ins where personal items, including guns, were stolen. After a lengthy investigation, officers narrowed in on a suspect.

According to the Kenosha Police Department, increased patrols were called upon to watch the previously targeted neighborhoods in an attempt to catch the suspect in the act.

On April 3, officers responded to a gas station in the 1400 block of 75th Street for a report of an attempted armed robbery. Officers and Detectives were able to verify that a younger man had allegedly tried to rob another man at gunpoint and then got into the unlocked vehicle while it was at the pump.

Authorities then reportedly matched the robbery suspect with the vehicle break-in suspect through surveillance video. The suspect was later identified as 18-year-old Napharon Bennett.

Bennett, who is from Kenosha, was arrested in the early morning hours of April 5 while he was leaving his home. Officers noted in the release that Bennett was wearing the same clothes during his prior “vehicle entry escapades.”
